Message 25psi is perhaps pushing it a bit although Z1 675RS TTs can run 25psi without engine work. 20psi is safe with basic mods, bigger injectors, and intercoolers.

Timing retardation and water/alcohol injection are very effective at preventing detonation. Member bjamin runs 18psi on 91octane with alcohol injection. I agree for reliability engine strengthening is needed but I was mostly focussing on detonation.

I don't expect power gains to directly correlate with boost. EVO, 335i, 300zx, 996TT will all have very different power gains for the same boost. I understand things are not that simple but for most observations first-order explanations make things plausible. I am looking for those first-order explanations not the it-ain't-that-simple response.

Quite a few NA TTs have blown in the past (RacerZX comes to mind). ConverTT, if memory serves, doesn't go over 9psi and doesn't drive hard.

I agree that high boost and high compression don't go well together.
